At the Zhezkazgan Copper Smelter of Kazakhmys Smelting, part of the Kazakhmys Corporation, a large-scale project to modernize the production infrastructure is underway. One of the key focus areas is the upgrade of the ventilation system at the cathode section of the copper electrolysis shop.
The Zhezkazgan Copper Smelter is one of the strategically important metallurgical enterprises in Kazakhstan. Production processes operate on a continuous 24/7 basis, requiring high reliability of equipment and efficient air circulation systems.
Particular attention is given to the cathode section, where dust generation and elevated temperatures occur during production. Maintaining a stable microclimate is essential for industrial safety and employee well-being.
As part of the project, more than 50 modern industrial fans are being installed. The equipment is designed to remove contaminated and heated air, reduce dust levels, and improve overall air circulation in production areas.
Some of the fans are installed near window openings, allowing the intake of fresh and cooler outdoor air, and helping maintain a stable and comfortable temperature even under high thermal loads.
The project started in early 2026 and is now in its final stage of implementation. Commissioning and testing works are currently underway before full operation.
The company emphasizes that this upgrade is part of Kazakhmys Smelting’s comprehensive program to modernize infrastructure, improve production efficiency, reduce operational risks, and enhance working conditions.
