The city-forming enterprise processes copper concentrate in the amount of 497 thousand tons and produces 178 thousand tons of cathode copper per year. Kazakhmys Smelting also produces gold, silver, sulfuric acid, copper rod and enamel wire.
For example, in 2022, the total output of cathode copper was 345 thousand tons, 9.3 tons of gold, 308 tons of silver, 9.7 tons of copper rod and 2.2 tons of wire. More than 2,000 people have been provided with permanent jobs at the Zhezkazgan copper smelter.
The average wages of metallurgists is 518 thousand tenge per month.
