The city-forming enterprise processes copper concentrate in#nbsp;the amount of#nbsp;497 thousand tons and produces 178 thousand tons of#nbsp;cathode copper per year. Kazakhmys Smelting also produces gold, silver, sulfuric acid, copper rod and enamel wire.

For example, in#nbsp;2022, the total output of#nbsp;cathode copper was 345 thousand tons, 9.3 tons of#nbsp;gold, 308 tons of#nbsp;silver, 9.7 tons of#nbsp;copper rod and 2.2 tons of#nbsp;wire. More than 2,000 people have been provided with permanent jobs at#nbsp;the Zhezkazgan copper smelter.

The average wages of#nbsp;metallurgists is#nbsp;518 thousand tenge per month.

The minister visited the Anode Area, where he#nbsp;got acquainted with the process of#nbsp;fire refining of#nbsp;copper#nbsp;— a#nbsp;fully automated process.

Alibek Kuantyrov also visited the Cathode Area, where he#nbsp;got acquainted with the process of#nbsp;electrolytic refining of#nbsp;copper in#nbsp;electrolysis cells.

Zhanibek Baigabelov, General Director of#nbsp;Kazakhmys Smelting, spoke about plans to#nbsp;modernize the plant, launch the next processing stages of#nbsp;final products and about problematic issues related to#nbsp;the shortage of#nbsp;gas supply and the stable supply of#nbsp;covered wagons for shipment.
