From July 12 to 14, Zhezkazgan hosted the inaugural "Kazakhmys National Games" among employees of the Kazakhmys Group of Companies, timed to coincide with Metallurgist Day.
Employees of Kazakhmys Smelting - representing the Zhezkazgan and Balkhash copper smelters - actively participated in the sports festival. About 50 workers from the two enterprises demonstrated their skills in national sports and defended the honor of their teams.

The tournament became a true celebration of sports, friendship, and corporate unity, bringing company employees together around shared values and national traditions.
The competition featured teams from the Zhezkazgan and Balkhash copper smelters of KAZAKHMYS SMELTING, JEZQAZGAN TAU-KEN ONDIRISI – 1, KAZAKHMYS MAINTENANCE SERVICES, JEZQAZGAN TAU-KEN ONDIRISI – 2, BALQASH TAU-KEN ONDIRISI, the G. On the second day of the games, the long-awaited qazaq quresi tournament "Kazakhmys Barys" took place, distinguished by its impressive scale. It featured 50 of the strongest wrestlers from across the group's enterprises.
At the grand opening ceremony, Zhanibek Altynbekovich Baigabelov, Chief Operating Officer for Metallurgy at Kazakhmys Corporation and General Director of Kazakhmys Smelting, delivered a welcoming speech: "I congratulate everyone on the upcoming Metallurgist Day and on holding the first 'Qazaqmys' National Games. I hope these competitions become our good tradition. Seven years ago, I organized the first qazaq quresi competition at KLMZ, where the main prizes were 100 thousand tenge and a chapan. Today, we see how much this project has grown and how large-scale it has become. Already, there are partners ready to award cars as the main prize to the winners next year. You are the guardians of traditions. You proudly represent your teams, enter the arena, and demonstrate strength, unity, and a true team spirit."
The games served as a platform for popularizing national sports and became an important event strengthening the unity and team spirit of Kazakhmys Corporation employees. Throughout the event, the outdoor "Qazaqmys Auly" was organized for participants, where they enjoyed meals, exchanged experiences, conversed, and got to know one another. Overall, the venue became a major uniting ground for teams of one company coming from various production sites.
In conclusion, a gala dinner was organized for the participants, during which the results of the national sports competitions were summarized, and the winners and runners-up received their valuable prizes and awards. Following the event, Kazakhmys Smelting employees represented the company with distinction and earned a number of high awards: Nurbek Satov (Zhezkazgan Copper Smelter) took 1st place in tayaq tartu (up to 80 kg); the Kazakhmys Smelting team won 1st place in arqan tartu; Rustem Edilbayev (Zhezkazgan Copper Smelter) secured 2nd place in togyzqumalaq; Maksat Makhanbetov (Zhezkazgan Copper Smelter) took 3rd place in qazaq quresi ("Kazakhmys Barys", up to 80 kg); and Ulan Akimzhan (Balkhash Copper Smelter of Kazakhmys Smelting) won the special nomination for "Best Technique."
